AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF THE NEW NEW YORK STATE SOCIAL STUDIES CURRICULUM (K-12) IS THE USE AND APPLICATION OF PRIMARY SOURCES. I HAVE FOUND THAT SOME STUDENTS, NOT ALL OF COURSE, BECOME MORE INTERESTED WITH HISTORY WHEN THEY ARE EXPOSED TO THESE SOURCES. I HAVE USED THEM IN VARIOUS WAYS. IN ESSENCE, THOUGH, I USE THEM TO SPUR DISCUSSION AND DEBATE AND TO IMPROVE THE MUCH NEEDED SKILLS OF ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION!
