My name is Vincent J. Pompo. I am currently a doctoral student in the Teaching and Curriculum Program at Syracuse University. I began this program in the Fall of 2002 as a full-time student and graduate assistant. I completed 24 credit hours in that first year and since then I have become a part-time doctoral student. Over the past three years, I completed three more courses. Thus, as of now (August, 2006), I have completed thirty-three credit hours, excluding the 39 credit hours I have transferred from earlier course work earned at Syracuse University. This leaves me with about three more courses to complete before commencing with my dissertation. I am also formally enrolled in the C.A.S. program at S.U..
My full-time work is in the Vernon Verona Sherrill Central School District. I teach at VVS High School as a teacher of Global History and Geography and AP European History. I also serve as the Teacher Leader of Social Studies (PreK-12) for the district. This year (2006/2007) will be my ninth year teaching in the district and tenth year overall. I have also recently earned National Board Certification in Social Studies. One may notice through my background that one of my formeost beliefs about teaching is that growth as a professional is a necessity - without out this pursuit one becomes mired in mediocrity.
