DIVERGENT THINKING IS JUST ANOTHER WAY OF HAVING ONE'S STUDENTS SEE CONTENT IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT.  IN OTHER WORDS, DIVERGENT THINKING REQUIRES A STUDENT TO SEE PEOPLE, EVENTS, HAPPENINGS, ETC. THROUGH THE EYES OR LENS OF SOMETHING FOREIGN TO HIM/HER.  THIS TYPE OF SKILL OFTEN REQUIRES STUDENTS TO TAP INTO HIGHER ORDER THINKING SKILLS, NAMELY THAT OF APPLICATION.  SIMILAR TO A SKILL DISPLAYED BY A GOOD DEBATER, THIS SKILL ALSO ALLOWS ONE TO SEE A TOPIC, OR ARGUE ONE, FROM BOTH SIDES.  FURTHERMORE, THIS TYPE OF THINKING NURTURES EMPATHIC SKILLS.  BELOW ARE SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES I HAVE USED THAT ACCENTUATE DIVERGENT THINKING.
